Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 4 November 2026

1. Our business and these terms

Gabe Electrical South Wales Ltd (trading as Gabe Electrical), registered in England and Wales, company number 17003941. Registered office: 374 Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff, Wales, CF5 1JJ. This is a correspondence address; we visit customers at their premises and do not receive customers there.

Email: [email protected]. Telephone: 07894 349680.

These terms apply to electrical services and associated goods supplied by us where provided to you before the contract is agreed. Your quotation or written job confirmation records the particular scope, price and payment arrangements. Any agreed change must be recorded clearly. Nothing in these terms removes or reduces rights that the law gives you as a consumer.

2. Enquiries, quotations and agreeing work

A website enquiry, photograph or request for a callback is not a confirmed booking. We confirm the work and availability with you. Before you agree, we provide the scope and price or charging basis, relevant exclusions and payment arrangements. A quotation is a price for the stated scope; an estimate is an informed indication that may change as the circumstances become clearer.

A contract is made when we accept your instruction to proceed and confirm the agreed work. Consumer cancellation information and any required early-start request form part of that process. Website guide prices are indicative and do not replace a property-specific quotation.

3. Prices, VAT and payment

Our quotation or job confirmation states the price or charging basis and whether any call-out, diagnostic, travel or materials charges apply. Prices quoted to consumers include VAT where payable. Any deposit, stage payments, invoice due date or agreed hourly charge will be set out before you commit; there is no automatic deposit percentage under these terms.

We invoice for the work and goods agreed. If you dispute an invoice, tell us promptly and explain the reason so we can investigate. We will not make an additional charge for unagreed work merely because we have attended. We may agree to suspend further non-essential work where an agreed payment is overdue, after reasonable notice and taking account of safety and any genuine dispute.

4. Access, permissions and customer responsibilities

You must have authority to instruct the work and arrange safe, reasonable access to the property and relevant equipment. Tell us about known hazards, asbestos concerns, concealed services, access restrictions and any building or landlord permissions that may affect the job. We will discuss responsibility for any required consents or approvals in the quotation.

Keep children, pets and other people away from work areas. Where we reasonably cannot work safely, we may stop and discuss the next steps. Any additional attendance or delay charge must be based on a previously agreed charging basis or agreed with you, and be fair and reasonable.

5. Existing installations, testing and changes

Testing or opening up an installation may reveal defects that could not reasonably be identified beforehand. Fault finding is an investigation: attendance does not guarantee that every fault will be located or permanently repaired during a single visit. We explain findings and proposed options before agreeing further work.

A consumer unit upgrade or new circuit may depend on the condition of existing wiring, earthing and bonding. If additional work is needed, we explain why and provide the revised scope and price for your agreement. We may isolate unsafe equipment where reasonably necessary to prevent danger, explain what we have done and identify any limitations. We will not knowingly leave equipment energised where doing so would be unsafe.

6. Carrying out the work and making good

We carry out work with reasonable care and skill, using suitable materials and the standards applicable to the agreed work. We discuss likely disruption and access needs. Unless expressly included, quotations do not include full plastering, decoration, flooring replacement, asbestos removal or work by other trades. Any limited making-good included is described in the quotation.

We take reasonable care to protect the property and reduce mess. This does not exclude our responsibility for damage caused by our lack of reasonable care or breach of contract. Tell us promptly if you believe damage has occurred so we can investigate.

7. Timing, urgent work and delays

We agree an intended appointment or programme and communicate material changes. Emergency attendance is subject to availability; a form submission does not guarantee a response time. Where no completion time is agreed, work is performed within a reasonable time.

If access problems, parts availability, unsafe conditions or events outside our reasonable control cause a delay, we explain the impact and discuss a revised arrangement. Any right you have to cancel or seek a remedy for a delay remains unaffected.

8. Certification, goods and equipment you supply

We provide the certificates, test records or notifications appropriate to the work performed and explain any limitations. A repair does not automatically include an EICR of the whole installation. Please retain your documents and follow the operating and maintenance instructions provided.

Goods we supply must meet the applicable legal standards, including satisfactory quality, fitness for a purpose made known to us and conformity with description. If you supply equipment, we can assess its suitability and may decline to install an unsafe or unsuitable item. We remain responsible for the quality of our installation work; we do not take over the manufacturer’s obligations for goods you purchase elsewhere.

9. Consumer cancellation rights

If you are a consumer and make a qualifying distance or off-premises contract, you normally have a statutory right to cancel without giving a reason. For a service contract, the cancellation period normally ends 14 days after the day the contract is made. For a sales contract that includes goods and installation, the period is normally linked to when you receive the goods. We provide the cancellation information applicable to your contract before you agree.

To cancel, send a clear statement to [email protected] or our registered office. You may use the model form below but do not have to. Sending your cancellation before the relevant deadline is sufficient. We make any refund required by law without undue delay and within the applicable statutory period, normally using the original payment method without a refund fee.

10. Work requested during the cancellation period

If you want services to start within a statutory cancellation period, you must expressly request that early start. For an off-premises contract, this request must be on a durable medium, such as email. If you then cancel before completion, we may charge a reasonable proportion for services supplied up to cancellation only where the legal conditions, including the required information and request, have been met.

The service cancellation right is lost on full performance only where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged beforehand that the right would be lost when the service had been fully performed. A general acceptance of these terms does not itself provide that request or acknowledgement.

Where you specifically request a visit for urgent repairs or maintenance, a statutory cancellation exception can apply to that urgent work and necessary replacement parts. It does not automatically cover additional non-urgent services or other goods supplied at the same visit.

11. Other cancellations, deposits and rescheduling

Please tell us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Outside statutory cancellation rights, any amount retained or charged must be fair and reflect reasonable net losses arising from the cancellation, taking account of costs saved and reasonable steps to reduce the loss. Deposits are not automatically non-refundable. We do not impose a blanket charge for the whole job regardless of the circumstances.

If we cannot provide the agreed work, we discuss alternative arrangements and refund payments for goods or services not supplied where due. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

12. Problems, guarantees and complaints

If you believe the work or supplied goods are faulty, contact us with the job details and a description of the issue. Where appropriate, give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and put matters right. This does not require you to delay necessary action in a genuine safety emergency.

Any additional workmanship guarantee or manufacturer’s warranty is described in the quotation or accompanying documents and is additional to your statutory rights. No wording here limits the time you have to exercise a statutory remedy to a short guarantee period.

Consumers may be entitled to repeat performance or a price reduction for a service that does not meet legal requirements, and the applicable remedies for faulty goods. We will explain our proposed response to a complaint. If unresolved and within its scope, you can refer electrical workmanship concerns to the NICEIC consumer complaints process. Where required, we will also provide details of an appropriate alternative dispute resolution body and whether we will participate.

13. Responsibility and business customers

We are responsible for loss or damage for which the law makes us liable. We do not exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. For consumers, our responsibility includes foreseeable loss caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

If you instruct us for business purposes, identify this before agreeing the work. Any project-specific commercial provisions or liability limits must be expressly agreed in writing and comply with applicable law.

14. Personal information and governing law

We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing prevents a consumer from relying on mandatory legal protections or bringing proceedings in a court available to them under applicable law.
